Christmas Sticker Labels!

Alright- one more week left of Christmas Madness! For those of you who are still trying to work on christmas neighbor gifts- I have something I have created that will hopefully make your work a little easier!

I just added some holiday stickers to my shop here. You can purchase as a digital download, print out on sticker paper, cut out, and put on your goodie plates, or sparkling cider or wine bottles to give away. I gave away all of these this weekend, and this little something extra just really made things pop!

Each sticker set is $6.00, and you can print it out as many times as you want! (please just use for personal use.) I use a sticker paper that I bought, which has no lines or anything in it, so wherever I cut out, it makes the sticker.

Check them all out here!

Free Christmas Tag Download

It hasn’t snowed too much here, but I can’t say that I mind… the San Diego native that I am. Christmas to me will always be surfing at the beach! However, all of this wrapping paper excitement has gotten me motivated to get my act together and get all of my holiday shopping and neighbor gifts done. I spent a bit of time baking this weekend… whether or not these treats actually made it to planned neighbors is my little secret… but here are some tags I thought you might enjoy for neighbor gifts, or for anything else you are handing out!

Happy Christmas and enjoy the download!

My 2 minutes of fame

KSL Studio 5 did a little feature on me a little while ago- it is the first two minutes, and about me designing Shutterfly Cards (through Petite Lemon).

Side note: black might have been a bad choice to wear- as I don’t look very pregnant in it….

Collaboration: what I have been up to

As I mentioned in my last post, I have been collaborating a lot with different people in the last year- and these have proven to be awesome experiences for me. Collaboration is great at an artist- because it can really push you artistically to create even better work. I find that when I collaborate with my clients even- really take into account their view and artistic vision, that is can also push me in my own work.

That being said- here is a little bit of what I have been up to:

1. Tryangle Labs

I formed this company with three friends: Alma Loveland, Angie Anderson, and Darren Turetzky. We are creating children’s apps and are about to release our firt app next Monday called Make it Pop. We have been working on it for quite a few months now, and we are really excited to launch it and move forward on all of the other apps we have planned. It has been a wonderful mix because it has pushed all of us to make even better work and push each other.

2. Bijou

This year for Bijou, I teamed up with my good friend Bri to create some wrapping paper and gift tags. This has been super fun because I would have never thought of creating wrapping paper on my own, and again- it has been so nice to work with someone in creating, editing, and finally producing our final work. I can give you a tiny sneak peak of it here, but we will be posting more pictures in the next as we get ready for Bijou on the 18th.

3. Creative Collaborative

After I met Alma at Alt in January, I realized how many amazing artists lived near to me. A group of five of us: Alma Loveland, Justin Hackworth, Sarah Jane, and Susan Petersen and I started creating a monthly meeting to get together and talk about things that mattered to us. That has been the most wonderful thing! It has almost felt like a monthly therapy session- to get with other artists and see what we are each doing, and talk about our problems, solutions, and endeavors. It has been one of my most favorite things. Our next meeting is in two days- and we are hearing from a intellectual properties lawyer who will talk about artist rights and property.

Anyways, thats what I have been up to in collaborations. What types of collaborations have worked for you?

Motherhood Matters

(I designed this print for KSL Motherhood Matters, this print is available to download for free here, along with lots of other goodies)

I wanted to post this yesterday in honor of Mother’s Day, but I spent the whole weekend helping out my little daughter Maggie, who was sick with the flu. That meant that Sunday I had the flu myself… it was a day that I was a little out of it. Thankfully my husband took care of me and let me sleep- so it was still a nice Mother’s day. But I didn’t really get the chance to honor the Mother’s in my life.

My mother has been such a great example to me in my life. From my earliest memory she was always sacrificing her time, sleep, and energy for us. She taught us how to work, pray, get along, read, and have fun. She was really good about helping us have fun.. I remember so many special days- she let us imagine and build forts, paint our rooms, and create just about anything we wanted. I truly would never have become an artist without her guidance and love.  Another distinct memory I have of my mother is from my teenage years. At that time I had suffered from some major health problems, and had 6 surgerires on my knee. My mother was so supportive and there for me during all of those surgeries- she helped me bathe, get dressed, eat, and basically took care of me in all of these “basic” needs that I couldn’t do for myself. It was a very difficult time for me, but I remember it with fondness because it was a time that her and I especially became very close.  Now, as I have become a mother like her we have became good friends. I look on her not only as a mother, but as a best friend, and I call her almost every day… I am so grateful for her.

I am also very grateful for my mother in law; she is another great women. She raised 6 kids with love and determination, taught them all how to work hard, and raised them with great love and faith.  She has one of the greatest laughs, and she laughs easily at all that happens around her.  She is kind and thoughtful, and is always reaching out to those around her. I know that my husband and his goodness is just a reflection of my mother in law, and the person she is. I love visiting with her, and she has taught me so much.

How wonderful it is to be a mother, and how wonderful it is to have such great women around us- not only in our mothers, but from all the women around us who nurture and teach us. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you great women!
