Last week I was able to go to a gallery opening for Illustrating War (at the MOA), and I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the posters that had such an impact on the the world. Between doing work for that exhibit (I designed some programs) and working on the Egyptian Poster last weekend, I was reminded at how much historical wartime posters had an impact on me as a student of graphic design. Needless to say, I LOVE these posters.
I will spare you the details about what makes these posters powerful in history, as well as design, and just show you a few that have stuck out to me. (from both sides of the fight) There are soo many more. But I will just show you a few today.
